Superior Teams

What do Executives want from their teams? To be accountable, self-motivated and to produce a positive business result. In addition, it is now reported that executives value employee creativity according to a recent study. IBM sent out a questionnaire to 3,000 CEOs to find out what was the most important trait in an employee. Creativity ranked at the top of the list.

When employees are allowed to tap into their creativity, they are happier at work. Happy employees are more motivated, committed, and engaged which leads to higher productivity. Athletes call this state the “zone”.  When people are in the zone, they are in “flow”. Flow is a powerful state of mind where people are completely immersed in the pursuit of excellence. They are self-motivated and want to perform at higher levels.

People want to feel connected and be in the “zone”. It is a highly productive state where teams want to freely contribute and do good work. Micromanaging intelligent adults is counter- productive. Additionally, they want to be involved in healthy work (or work that does not burn them out), that is challenging in a positive way, and has meaning for them, personally.

Self-managing teams are more productive than teams who have someone else above them, make all the decisions. A self-managing team is a group of people who are responsible for the control and coordination of their own work. It is top management’s job to design business strategy and then allow the talented team to figure out how to implement the plan.

Surveys and Assessments

It is good business practice to assess and diagnose the current condition of your team and company. We have unique tools that measure the internal motivators of effective work. We can pinpoint where you need to focus and get to root issues rather than the surface problems. We have observed that many organizations spend money on less effective methods rather than removing the obstacles that stand in the way of excellent performance.

Work Process Improvement

People on Teams have knowledge about what’s working and what is not working in their workgroups. People who are involved in designing solutions to problems are more inclined to implement the solutions. When management and outside consultants do not include input from people who actually are doing the work, then the teams are not invested in solving problems that relate to their area. When you allow people to participate in identifying problems, designing solutions, implement and measure their results, you have a high functioning and effective team. We have seen dramatic changes in a very short amount of time with these powerful process improvement methods.

Business Coaching “Coaching for Flow”

“Flow” is a powerful model used in business, athletics, arts, and education to create a state in which participants are completely immersed in the pursuit of excellence, because they want to, not because they have to. You can dictate compliance, you cannot dictate excellence. Athletes call this state, “the zone”. People say things like, “I love my work”. “Can’t wait to get to the next step on this project”! “These are not problems just challenges that make us stronger.”

Our business coaching includes measuring tangible indicators such as increase sales, revenue, and profit. Most people do not get excited about numbers alone. We measure intangible indicators such as commitment, motivation, trust, and the desire to excel.

Our holistic approach incorporates powerful Action Planning, based on our belief, that a person takes their entire being to the workplace.
